NCDA Issues Statement

Hello Fellow NCDA Members,

We are horrified by the siege on the U.S. Capitol that occurred on January 6th, 2021. The peaceful transfer of power is a cornerstone of our democracy and we resoundingly condemn any attempt to use violence to disrupt this process. We call upon our political leaders and law enforcement to hold all parties responsible for this heinous assault accountable. The fulfillment of our organization's mission of providing professional development, publications, standards, and advocacy to practitioners and educators who inspire and empower individuals to achieve their career and life goals requires a political system dedicated to equitable access and treatment within mechanisms of governance. We implore our political leaders to dedicate themselves to the common good being mindful of the impact of their words and actions.

We fully support the statement provided by our parent organization, the American Counseling Association, regarding the events in Washington D.C which can be found here: ACA Statement

NCDA is here for you during these turbulent times. Please inform the executive board as well as commission and committee leaders of ways in which we can support you.

Regards,

Seth Hayden
President
